Denise Williams is a Licensed Professional Counselor of Clinical Psychology specializing in Trauma, Grief and the unique challenges of our Military, Veteran, and First Responder communities. After her only child, PFC Andrew Meari was killed in action in Afghanistan on November 1, 2010, Denise returned to college to attain her advanced degrees. She now uses her experience and education to help these communities learn to thrive while honoring the perspectives garnered through service above self.
Denise is the current President of the Department of Illinois, American Gold Star Mothers, Inc., an organization which received it’s Congressional Charter as a Veterans Service Organization in 1928. The mission of the American Gold Star Mothers, Inc., is to take care of those who come home, and in this service to find a measure of healing for their broken hearts. In addition to working as a Clinical Trauma Therapist Denise is a published author, speaker and advocate, working to bridge the military-civilian divide.
